The cheerful students of St John Vianney College Ukwulu, Anambra State, welcome the former Governor, Mr Peter Obi, to their school after defeating UK schools to emerge as the champion of the inaugural UK-Nigeria International Debate Championship.
According to the viral video shared online, the students were seen in high spirits as they welcomed the former Governor, who was there to celebrate and congratulate them on their latest achievement.
St John Vianney College students, on June 19, 2025, defeated many top schools from both Nigeria and the United Kingdom (UK) to emerge as the winner in the inaugural virtual UK–Nigeria Debate Championship. Hence, they’re set to represent Nigeria in the London finale coming up in December 2025.
The contest was the first-of-its-kind collaborative venture with the sole aim of encouraging cross-cultural engagement, innovative skills and critical thinking between “Bring It On Africa” and “Debate Meta UK”.
